Other speedrun demos: Wheel of Time - Unreal Tournament - Half-Life - Quake

Note: Working demo downloads! It seems http://www.3ddownloads.com/ have changed their download directory structures to something remotely sensible so the links to my demos should now work (albeit via an intermediate window which is typical of gaming download sites). The map downloads may well not work but I assume you have or can find those otherwise.

Wheel of Time speedruns:
I've done the first and only Wheel of Time speedrun demos, as always involving proper tricks and shortcuts.

How to play Wheel of Time demos
Wheel of Time demos require specific playback instructions, which are included in each demo zip. These demos are for v.333b.

Mission_10: "The Excavation" - Easy skill run in 0:49
A total of 5 individual Fireball jumps to make a very timesaving route overall.

Mission_01: "Bank of the Manetherendrella" - Easy skill run in 1:02
A couple of Fireball jump as a couple of minor shortcuts.

Other theoretically runnable WOT maps:
These are runs I tried and would have liked to do, but the demos give errors I can't solve:
Mission_02 - Follow normal route, picking up Fireball on the way, until the tall alleyway with collapsed pillars after the Hound destroys the ledge. Then do a hard Fireball jump to the nearest tall pillar, then gain the large ledge. Do a long Fireball jump to the 3 windows into the hallway opposite. Then follow the normal route until the last ground floor window. Fireball jump onto the arch on the left, then the arch on the right, then to the upper level and exit. (Not possible because demo recording crashes after the first open air section).
Mission_07a - Head to the upper floor down the stairs, jump across the bookcases, onto the right hand lamp and through the windows. Then follow the normal route to the second staircase trap. Protect yourself with the shield, then in the next room, use Levitate to get onto a bookcase near the barrels. Then pick up the Shift and follow normal route to exit. (Not possible because just starting recording a demo crashes WOT.)
Mission_08b - Simple press backwards against the invisible barrier just before the cliff collapses. Then jump to the right at the last second, go through the gate and follow the normal route to exit. (Not possible because demo playback is stopped by a problem with a BlockPlayer class - this can be removed before recording with "Killall", but that means the barrier stopping the player going through the gate immediately isn't present, which is simply cheating.)

Unreal Tournament speedruns - custom maps:
I've done the first and only UT speedrun demo, on a custom single player map - a proper speedrun with great tricks.

How to play UT demos:
UT demo playback is simple, and instructions come in the zip. For more information, see the PU UT Tweaks page.

UT-WhitePalace][ "The White Palace ][" - run in 1:07
Nice custom map and a classic run with Krall boosts and a curve jump to save lots of time.

Half Life speedruns:
I've done the first and only Half-Life speedrun demo, on a custom map because that's where I first found a shortcut.

How to play Half Life demos:
1. Place the .dem file in c:\sierra\half-life\valve
2. Start Half Life with the console (see info sites around the net for details).
3. Type "playdemo 'demoname'", where 'demoname' is the demo name.

Sigur: Prisoner of Event - Easy run of map 2 in 0:21
Not much to say about this except download it!! It's a nice map, and a good run with a large curve jump shortcut in it.

Quake speedruns:
I've done a lot of Quake speedruns, all on custom maps, some of which have never been run otherwise and thus are unique demos.
