I like that idea shamb, I've thought of sumthing like that, the q3 player models look like theres going to be heaps of monster alieny ones. yes <|ssexbat> Alien's are scarey. <|ssexbat> heh but, the most important thing, by a very very very long way, is to make sure it's HIGH quality and sticks to the q3a theme well talking about a map? I reckon that all new levels would be better. maybe but that is another variable more work to be done, more chance for things to go wrong theres heaps of ppl who make models for q2, I reckon some of them would be interested in making models for an sp pack. hehe yeah talking about q3? not really more chances for things to go wrong. but, they'd have to be good * dm_gonzo would like to do sp maps id quality at least you'd want it to be so that ppl could make new maps, so they'd be a q3 SP mapping community of sorts. oh yeah and the developement team making all the maps from scratch would help to iron out bugs. true but as i say, it would be a lot more work also, it would be nice to stick to the id style and looks as close as possible it would be a pain if it was released with minorally altered DM maps, then every discovers that they can't map for it because it crashes. theres heaps of ppl around, on the qboard for example, that I reckon would be interested in joining this project. tell me bout the project on it's way gonz in that tchat log, you's are complaing that bsp to map makes twice as many brushes as there were originally, winbspc work almost perfectly. i'm not that's someone else *** dm_gonzo is now known as Qui-Gon_Jinn <|ssexbat> so, dudes, what kinda project are you going for? future or gothic? or a mix? gothis pls :) <|ssexbat> hah it would be whatever the main styles of q3a are I've jsut been thinking shamb, imagine the sort of graveyard effects and stuff you could create in q3 with the fog ans shit. so, a mixture of mostly gothic with some scifi a bit like q1, i would think hehe <|ssexbat> cool.. and the meanies? I reckon it doesn't say much because they won't know fully what they are doing yet probably, they haven't even got a development team. And do you think that if they haven't even STARTED the mod yet, they are going to list all the ideas so ppl can steal them. the thing is ssexy, i have little hope for a mod that tells you so little, seems to have such a basic idea, and comes from people who don't exihibt any dedication to SP their project does look more ambitious than this one, but a dif kind. ambitious theres is like a straight "play it then tuck it on a shelf mod" as i say, i'm pretty sure they wanted to mod for q3, and just chose sp as an obvious option <|ssexbat> yeah, i see what ur saying while the one you are planning is basicaaly an openended mod, that peopel can easily make new maps for. shambler: How do you know? No way shamb, I';m just trying to be fair. heh If there was a quake 3 sp mod I wanted to join, it would be yours. the thing is like, take guf I prefer the idea of the openened mod thing. if he did a site for a q3asp mod, i would know it would be good - because guf knows about sp, he made a fucking excellent q2 unit, he's clever, he has lots of ideas and theories - so if i saw a guf website, i'd be a lot more optimistic so are you going to do the q3thing as an sp project? tron i just don't know you should at least get a possible team together and work out some idas. hmmm tron yeah i know but it seems, well, a lot of work come on. think about how good it would be. i know but to make a full game it;s like tf has really survived because it was designed as a openended patch, users made maps and stuff. to get people willing to do that you're not really altering that much. i do really really love the idea of doing it i know, but still it's a lot fo work, but the guidelines are already in place. it needs people who will say: "i WILL do this, no matter what happens" the engines already done. also, it's long term the models are already done. like, would be starting later this year I would say that...but I don't have a 3d card and don't know when I'd be able to get one, so it'll be a bit hard for me to work with a game I can't even play 8) hehe i could try i could get a site up and ask for people but as ray said in the chat, it's real hard to get a reliable team hehehe tell me about it shamb heh exactly and your only reviewing reliable? whats that... yeah go and get ppl who you know, like ppl from the qboard. (not demeaning it, but making a sp conversion would require a lot more deciation) the person i really wanted was guf but he has his own plans the reward is the finished product with lots of people playing it reward shmeward oh ok and lot's of ppl mapping for it. for me, it would be getting a team to make a cool, fun sp game from q3a like, i don't even think about rewards erm... not too many think about it shamb, wouldn't you like a whole new lot of mappers mapping what are basically q1 maps in teh q3 engine? yeah well, not q1 maps q1 style gameplay q3 style maps yeah is guf going to do that "pacman" thingy? i dunno for him it's more of an abstract idea rather than a real plan to do something You should get some mappers to try and make some q3 style levels in q1. hehe are you just talking about starting project for sp in q3? everyone is doing that already!! paul, yeah or do you have story planned i have some good plans no story yet i'd do that stories are fun which one shamb? ah ok ..but have it openended. which what?? cool have a look at that, it's what i'm on about nm blrahrfd it would be good if this could just be like one big episode, openened (have you noticed yet that I'm convinced the key to this mods survival is if it can be used my many others to make sp maps? yes it would have the same style of gameplay and goals as quake i.e., simple, action focused rather than this HL story driven stuff not that there is anything wrong with story driven stuff, but SP games seem to be focusing exclusively on story and interaction, rather than good honest violence this would redress the balance ...
