Trick move demos: Quake trick jumps - Quake II trick jumps - Q3A trick jump demos

Note: Working demo downloads! It seems http://www.3ddownloads.com/ have changed their download directory structures to something remotely sensible so the links to my demos should now work (albeit via an intermediate window which is typical of gaming download sites). The map downloads may well not work but I assume you have or can find those otherwise.

Quake I trick jump demos:
Some Quake trick jump demos I've recorded just for fun, the difference being that they are almost all on custom maps. So if your a custom map fan, have a look at some of these as they should be pretty entertaining, particularly since I chose tricks that are more interesting than plain old rocket jumps - I also try to make the jumps as smooth and stylish as possible. Some tricks might be useful for deathmatch, but many will be just for fun. The custom maps required are linked direct.

How to play Quake demos:
1. Place the demo file in c:\quake\id1, and ensure the required map is in c:\quake\id1\maps.
2. Start Quake, go to the console and type: "playdemo demoname", where demoname is the name of the demo.
3. Hit the console key again to clear it off the screen.

Quake II trick jump demos:
These are some trick jump demos I've recorded, just for fun. Some of them are quite hard and unusual, and there is none of this "completely-new-circle-jump-to-the-rocket-packs-on-The-sodding-Edge-that's-precisely-the-same-as-the-previous-3000-circle-jumps-to-rocket-packs-except-it's-done-at-a-very-slightly-different-angle" bullshit. Originality is the name of the game here. Some of the earlier demos have been refilmed - marked with an (r) - the refilming is good quality and highlights the tricks well.

How to play Quake II demos:
1. Place the demo file in c:\quake2\baseq2\demos, and ensure the required map is in c:\quake2\baseq2\maps.
2. Start Quake II, go to the console and type: "demomap demoname.dm2", where demoname is the name of the demo. The ".dm2" suffix is necessary.
3. If the demo starts with the console half down, bring down the console again, and retype the command.

22/6/00:
Triple crate/conveyor jump on Ware1 / Working download n- Quite tricky and cool little jump.

6/11/99:
Double/slope jump combos on Strike / Working download - Quite tricky new jumps done just for fun.

10/10/99:
Slope jump on City1 / Working download - Easy, but very useful shortcut jump.
Various double jumps on Hangar1 - Fairly tricky way to reach a camping spot.
Low gravity slope jump in Space / Working download - Fairly easy, but useful shortcut jump.

31/7/99:
Double+steep slope jump on Base3 / Working download - Another tricky combo trick, good stuff.
Double jump shortcut on Train / Working download - Nifty shortcut, surprisingly not used in the SDA speedruns.
Double switch+crate jump on Ware1 / Working download - More messing around and multiple jumps.

29/7/99:
Triple barrel jump on Base1 - / Working download Very high, very fun, very cool =).
Double jump + wind boost on Boss1 - Another high one, novel and quite hard.
Triple jump on Bunk1 / Working download - Cool trick, later used as a RtR challenge.
Double+slope+steep slope jumps on Jail3 / Working download - Complex combination trick, very satisfying to do.

27/7/99:
Slope jump on Command (r) / Working download - Cunning little jump no-one else spotted.
Gunner grenade jump on Jail1 (r) / Working download - Extremely cool indeed.
Rocket + Beserker jump on Power1 (r) / Working download - You won't have seen anything like this before =).
BFG jump on Waste2 (r) / Working download - To reach an invisible barrier in the sky.

26/7/99:
Early refilmed jumps (r) - My earliest demos, mostly quite easy, but some cool ones and good refilming.

Q3A trick jump demos:
These are all on Id ingame maps. These are a limited selection of "medium" tricks: They are not desperate tricks and much harder tricks will be found, but equally I haven't bother to do lots of boringly basic rocket or grenade jumps. There's plenty of other tricks to be found, these are posted to show what sort of tricks to look for.

How to play Q3A demos:
1. Place the demo file in your Q3A directory, in base3q, in a sub-folder called "demos", e.g. c:\quake3\baseq3\demos.
2. Start Q3A, and choose the "Demos" option from the main menu. Then select the demo you want to play, and click "Play".
Note: The Q3dm13 jump to the MegaHealth and double rocket jump to the Quad seemed impossible with "g_syncronousClients 1" (needed to start recording a demo), so for that jump it was turned off, meaning the demo is jerky at that point.

All demos in one zip (270 k.)

This large zip includes the following individual level demos:

Q3dm2 - Plasma jump from health in water to Haste.
Q3dm4 - Plasma jump from Red Armour area up to stairs leading to Rocket Launcher.
Q3dm5 - Two Plasma jumps to RA, Plasma jump to Grenade Launcher.
